I'm too obsessive to hit the reset button on things.

This is a problem with forums and RSS feeds. I keep feeling like I need to *really* keep up. Like there's some sort of life-affirming answer to a question of metaphysics or the secret to building a warp drive or something in there.

But it's not. I mean, the last time you could know *everything* that was known was sometime before Sir Francis Bacon. So there's no way that I should feel obligated to even properly scan every thread of a forum. Or read every post in a blog.

I accidentally hit the "mark all as read" button in my RSS reader yesterday. And it's hugely freeing that suddenly everything that I wanted to read a little more carefully is now marked as read. But it bugged me for a good hour what I had just done.
